Directions: All ingredients were measured not weighed.
Start with a small pan and melt all the ingredients, except for the
flavor and colorant, over a very
low heat. The waxes will melt quickly. Remove from heat and
separate into glass cups so that
more than one flavor can be made from the batch. Add flavor and
colorants to your liking. Mixture
will start out thin and as it cools, you will see it thicken to a soft
gel. Check this consistency
and if you like it, place the glass cup into the microwave to reheat
slightly. Use a small funnel
to pour your gloss into the lip gloss tubes. Only fill about 3/4
of the way leaving room for the stopper
and wand. If the mixture is thicker than you would like, just add
a little more sweet almond oil and
reheat in the microwave.
This lip gloss has a very nice feel, not sweet, but flavorful.
There did not seem to be a lot of color
that transferred to the lips. The shimmer in the container will
depend on what mica powder you use.
If you use the Mica Pearl Flake as we did in the first tube, it will
lighten the color used because it
contains titanium dioxide.
This is similar to Burt's Bees, not Lip Smackers. This lip gloss
is 100% natural unless you use the
lip tints (FD&C colors) to color them.
